This online CMI Level 5 Management and Leadership Diploma qualification is designed for practising and aspiring middle and operational managers who have responsibilities for resources and managing others, having other team leaders or first-line managers reporting to them.

Job titles might include: Operational Managers, Divisional Managers, Departmental Managers and Regional Managers.

The course is designed to help managers and leaders develop their skills and knowledge, in areas such as developing individuals and teams, planning and managing a project, managing finance and human resource management.

By studying the CMI Level 5 Management and Leadership Diploma you will explore all the fundamental management theories and models, and improve your practical management skills. You will:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of process and staff management
  • Strengthen problem-solving skills, benefiting your organisation
  • Show employers that you are a proficient manager, committed to your development increasing your career progression
  • Use your manager training to progress onto higher levels of study, such as a Level 7 Strategic Management Course or gain entry to an MBA

A Diploma in Management and Leadership is the benchmark qualification for full CMI membership, and takes you towards achieving Chartered Manager status.

The Level 5 Diploma can be achieved by studying eight units and is a comprehensive management development experience. It gives you a wide range of skills and competencies needed to become an effective middle and operational manager. Units selected must total 370 TUT.

We recommend that new or aspiring middle managers study the Award or Certificate.

How it works

Your Level 5 Management and Leadership course will last for a maximum of twelve months although you can complete much sooner if you wish. Average completion is nine months.

Our courses are delivered through highly supportive distance learning using a combination of personal tutor support and access to i-cademy our on-line learning portal.

You will have 24/7 access to the on-line i-cademy portal where you will be able to access all your study resources. On the portal you will find your course text for each unit which can be read on-line or downloaded and printed. Our portal also contains additional research resources to help you maximise your study time and assignment guides to help you with assignments.

You will be allocated a tutor who will be your personal guide, mentor and coach. They will be an expert in their field and distance learning. You can be confident that their support and help will give you every opportunity to be successful. You can contact them as often as you need. You will also benefit from student membership of the CMI which will enable you to access the CMI online resource system Management Direct.

Once you have enrolled you will be emailed your joining instructions which will enable to to immediately access our learning portal and all of your learning materials. We will then allocate your tutor to you and register you with the Institute.

You will need a PC, Laptop, Notebook or tablet with sound, internet access, and meet minimum browser requirements of: Firefox 4+, Internet Explorer 8, Safari 5, Google Chrome 11, or Opera 9. You will need to disable pop-up blockers and enable cookies for the learning portal.

Assessment

In order to achieve this management qualification you must successfully complete a graduate level written work-based assignment of about 3000 words for each unit studied. You have two attempts at each assignment and tutors provide full feedback to support you if you need to make a second submission.

Unit Choices

To achieve this qualification you must study units to a TUT value of 370. This can be done by completing eight units. If you wish to study more than 8 units there will be an additional charge per unit. Please contact us to discuss.
